As a Cuban, I cannot ignore how picturesque and surrealistic was and still is the reality in which I lived in Cuba until September 1998 when I emigrated. Therefore, the paintings in this series entitled "The harlequin's secret", express through characters and stories, the political and social problems on the island, the customs and certain symbolisms such as: what you see is not what it is or the stagnation of time, without forgetting of course the creative capacity of the people despite the existence and above all, the duration of such surreal conditions.
The works were done mostly on canvas and others on cardboard. The technique of oil painting was replaced by acrylic painting in 1995, due to respiratory problems.
