Maruja Sánchez Cabrera (1927-1996) made her professional debut as a violinist in the Orquesta de la Sociedad Popular de Conciertos. Two years later she joined the roster of the Havana Philharmonic Orchestra. She was founder of the National Symphony Orchestra and the Havana Chamber Orchestra and was a member of the Nuestro Tiempo String Quartet and the Amadeo Roldán String Quartet. She was also concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatro de La Habana. From 1982 until her death, he wrote and conducted programs for CMBF, Radio Musical Nacional, which won her several prizes in Cuban Radio contests. To her musical experience we owe the book Orquesta Filarmónica de La Habana (1924-1959), numerous collaborations with specialized magazines, as well as brochures, seasonal reports and concert catalogs.
